Coil Pots

I really love clay and kids together. Second grade made their coil pots and some are gigantic. I'll post more pics after we glaze them.

Collographs!!

My third graders have been working on cardboard collographs. We printed them recently and I couldn't be more proud of their work. I'm in love.

First Grade Printmaking

First grade has been busy working on their cityscape styrofoam blocks. We learned about warm and cool colors and printed our blocks to create a cityscape and reflection.

4th Grade Mixed Media Collage

My 4th graders have been working on these for awhile. First, we created a sky background paper using oil pastels and water colors for a resist effect. We created our own scratch art paper using oil pastels and watered down black acrylic paint. Finally we did a super hero drawing using pencils, sharpies and colored pencils. She's! Don't they look fabulous?

Paper Sculpture!

I love the energy and imagination the kids bring to this project. They love building their sculpture using forms like cylinders and cones. We also learn how to cut a spiral line and make a zig zag fold.

Still Life and Masks

In second grade land we've been working on pattern and overlapping in our still life collages and symmetry and embellishment with our paper mask project. Dot, dot not a lot of glue.

Hearts

I am in love with these Jim Dine inspired hearts. I love the oil pastel blending my first graders did. We learned that adding white to any color makes a tint for example pink is a tint of red.

Lions and more Lions

Lion collages by some great first graders!

2nd Grade Straw Weaving

Wow. The kids have worked so hard on the straw weaving this nine weeks. We learned new weaving vocabulary words, warp, weft and loom. We are taking them off the loom soon!
